ABOUT IYENGAR YOGA

​

Developed by BKS Iyengar, the Iyengar approach to the practice of Yoga is based on the importance of bringing the body into alignment in the postures.  Props are often used to help people work in a range of motion that is safe and effective. In a typical Iyengar yoga class belts, blocks, blankets and bolsters may be used.

The practice is progressive and builds a stable foundation before introducing more demanding postures.

ABOUT ME

I started practicing yoga in 1997 and started my teacher training in 2000, I qualified to teach Iyengar Yoga in 2002 and have been teaching in the Croydon area since then.  I believe yoga is for everyone and at its simplest allows us to connect body, breath and mind.

SATURDAY YOGA 9.30AM - 11.00AM

TUESDAY YOGA 4.30PM - 6.00PM

CLASSES ARE HELD ON-SITE AT FRIENDS MEETING HOUSE, 60 PARK LANE, CROYDON, CR0 1JE OR LIVE ON-LINE VIA ZOOM.

Practicing yoga on a regular basis can help to improve flexibility, strength, stamina and balance.   It can also help to calm your mind and many people find that yoga helps them to deal with the stresses of everyday life.  You don't need to be flexible to practice and everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace.  The classes consist of a variety of postures (asanas) and finish with a short period of relaxation.
